What is even an artist statement for? Why does it even matter? Most people don’t even read them. Hilariously enough, one will most likely continue reading this artist statement to quench the thirst to know why I even said that in the first place.
I do not wish to give a reasons for my photographs to exist this time.
“Oh what an edgy thought…” someone will undoubtedly say.
Yes, but I am deeply sick of having to inevitably find myself trying to justify everything I do, everything I create, my existence all the time. I do not wish to give reasons or explanations to others anymore.
“Why have you done this? Why are you writing this?”
Because I can, that’s why.
“What do all these photographs have in common?”
Nothing, but the mere fact that I liked them, I made them.
“What’s supposed to make them good?”
I have no clue. Either way, here they are for your enjoyment. Do you like them? Good! You don’t? Shame.
“Why do you share it then?”
Well here, it is. Care. I care about myself and my photographs because they’re mine.
However small it is, this is what I am good at. I want to share with others that which I love.
For too long I have allowed to hold myself down for caring so much about what others could think… but I never stopped myself to think, why would others care about me if I don’t even care about myself?
So this is it. I share these photographs because I care about myself.
